Den grimme ælling / Andersen, the Ugly Duckling

Everybody knows the story about the ugly duckling. Not everyone knows about the childhood and upbringing
of the author.

In this lovely performance we see the fairy tale, but also history of Hans Christian Andersen’s life. Combining the two narratives, we understand the background for the Ugly Duckling.

3 Puppeteers, a Danish narrator and 6 musicians are all on stage in this musically captivating shadow theatre production, combining colorful shadow pictures and new music in a beautiful, funny and thought-provoking show.

The tale of the ugly duckling tackles important questions about modern society, such as bullying, generosity, beauty, accept of body, purity and love of self.

Murtra Ensemble, accompanying the performance,
highlights the importance of love and imagination as
important concepts in our ability to understand the world.
